Molecular Functions: Terms describing active functions the gene product is involved in. These terms can describe function carried out by the gene product itself, or a complex it is a part of (as is the case for NBN).
Biological Processes: Terms describing the gene product's role in a series of processes carried out by an assembly or assemblies of molecular function. These processes are typically crucial to organismal function. |

Discussion
AimGO 2 provided a variety of GO terms for NBN, none of which come as a surprise. All terms relate to the primary functions of NBN and the MRN complex. Cellular component terms imply NBN is primarily located throughout the nucleus. After looking at biological processes, all involved in DNA repair and maintenance and cell cycle regulation, NBN's cellular location can be inferred. Additionally, terms of molecular function coincide with information gathered on NBN protein domains and interaction partners.
